Recruitment Site SEO Checklist

For SEO to be effective you need to check the following simple parts of your current web site.

  1. Flash intro pages. Flash in general is a problem for great SEO. If you have Flash it can be tuned but it is also worth considering removing things like Flash intro pages for now.
  2. Ensure you content is viewed as text not graphics.
  3. Frames and iframes are anti SEO. Though they have some tuning capabilities now they are still not fully SEO compliant. It would be best you got rid of them.
  4. Ensure your site navigation path has been checked/validated for the Spider to move freely around your site.
  5. Page relevancy for content must be considered, in relation to keyword search use per page. Ensure you make use of your Content Management tools to tune the Titles, Keyword etc., per page.
  6. Multiple information pages for the subjects/products/services/message your are trying to deliver, must be present.
  7. Dynamic web pages, though they have some tuning they are still not SEO compliant. There are moves by the spiders to better understand them but they are still too embryonic to be of use.

Link checks

  1. How many links do you have?
  2. What is their value, in terms of PageRank & TrustRank (relevancy)?
  3. How many pages have been indexed?
  4. How many internal pages have links?
  5. How many broken links do you have?
  6. How many new links do you get per, day, per week, per month?

Linguistics

Linguistic Rule #1
Ensure the page Title contains the linguist proven choice for the target you wish to gain from the index. Placing your company name only is a wasted opportunity.

Linguistic Rule #2
Use the linguist proven choice in your Keywords, Tags, and Page content then make sure you distribute this strategy through multiple content pages.

Linguistic Rule #3
Links, need to be optimised too. Many people simply place a link on their site and call it "go here", or "view this". The spider will index the keywords in the link if you place them there.

Linguistic Rule #4
SEO allows you to index for hundreds of terms, unlike PPC which will limit your advert. So you can index for the top chosen words that key word analysis provided for you but at the same time you can index for the terms in the "Keyword Tail".

Linguistic Rule #5
Language changes and so should your site text. Monitor for Keyword trends and ensure you have Content Management Software at your disposal to work with your site text in real time.

Linguistic Rule #6
Spiders like text, and they like to find lots of it. While you might know your company, industry market or whatever backwards, it is wise to have more than just an "About Us" page, "Contact Us" page etc.
